About

Making the complicated usable.

For 20 years I’ve done one thing across very different rooms: take something genuinely advanced and make it accessible without dumbing it down.

I’m Katy Romero, a senior marketing executive with more than 20 years building brand and marketing for some of the world’s most trusted names: Google, Nest, One Medical, Peloton, Pinterest, and tonies. Industrious Ideas is where I bring that work to founders, growth-stage teams, and the people who have to live with the results.

The through-line has never changed. Each of those companies was a beloved consumer brand with a real revenue engine beneath it, and my job was to hold the story while building the engine. I build marketing engines: teams that deliver revenue, and messaging that makes complex ideas land in human language. That second part has been my edge.

The proof

$40M ARR
Recruited by the CMO to incubate and launch Peloton’s first B2B line from zero. My team delivered $40M in year-one ARR and 20% of all new Peloton app memberships.
50%
At One Medical, restructured enterprise marketing through the IPO and COVID. Marketing-sourced opportunities drove half of all new business revenue.
190%
Led a global cross-functional team of 30+ on Pinterest Presents, hitting 190% of the registration goal and 2x advertiser intent-to-spend on Pinterest’s AI advertising products.
$150M+
Led creative strategy for Google’s creative-technology incubator, serving the company’s top 100 global customers across a $150M+ annual pitch pipeline.

Why AI, and why now

AI is the newest version of the same complexity I’ve spent two decades translating. It’s moving fast, the hype is loud, and most teams are being told to just go figure it out. That’s the gap I close. I build with these tools every day, including my own AI platform, so the advice comes from an operator who ships, not a slide.

My belief about how this works is simple: people on judgment, agents on production. Not fewer people. Better-aimed people, with a governed system doing the volume, and the brand voice and guardrails built in so the work scales without ever embarrassing the brand.

How I work

Senior thinking, scoped to your stage. Fixed scope where it earns trust, a clear plan you can run, and a bias toward one concrete win in weeks over a strategy that sits on a shelf. You bring the goal. I make the complicated usable. Let’s build something that works for you.

Let’s design something with impact.
